i would definitly recomend this book to my brother because he loves wwii books. this book is all about wwii.i would rate this book a10 because it is a truly insperational book about wwii. i can relate this story to my life because like deiter i have a strong idea of doing things because of the cause.i think spencer is the most memorable because he has the guts to jump out of an airplane and become a paratrooper. i have learned a lot so far by reading this book. one thing is that germans call germany the"fatherland".

  7. I learned about The Battle Of The Bulge that happened in Winter, in Belguim. And how even though the two soliders (Dieter and Spence)that are fighting for a different cause on other teams can still be alike in many ways. I can't really choose which character was most memorable. There are three who are really memorable. Dieter, Spence, and Scheafer. Dieter because how loyal he was to a cause, even though it wasn't right. Scheafer, because he wouldn't shoot, he did not belive in what Hitler was doing. Spence, because he realated to the German soliders, and he was caring, loyal, and compasstionate because he went on that hill to help Dieter when he was shot and ended up getting shot and killed himself. I would recomend it to a friend because it was a really good book, even though it was sad. I can realate to this book because 2 of my family members died in WW2 and I want to be in the medical corps in the Navy when I get older. (A medic) On a scale from 1-10, I would give it a 9.99. It would get a ten if Spence woke up in a hospital and Dieter saw him and they talked. They would've been good friends.
